Not letting the ordinary get in the way (Family Portraits)

It has a been a while since we’ve had a family portrait session. To be honest… we’ve never really had a “professional” family portrait session. I know, yes, I know how TERRIBLE that sounds, especially because I am a photographer. It’s not like I didn't take any photos of my son, or of us. I have always done the occasional photoshoot of my son. We took random photos together here and there of our family vacations, but we just never got around to having our family’s portrait taken. Why? I ask myself that question. Why didn't we have a family session? Truth be told… I let life get in the way. The timing never seemed perfect. We were always too busy, or we hadn't lost those extra pounds, or I had some excuse to put it off…I let the ordinary things get in the way.

I decided this year was going to be different. No more excuses! Time is too precious and short to let the ordinary things get in the way! Those extra pounds are not more important then capturing our family’s portrait. So I scheduled several family sessions. Yes, not just one session, but three of them! I got a bit too excited about photographing our family. And you can never have too many photos (hehehe)!

First, we started with our dog Charlie. I shared a few of those photos on my Instagram page (you can check them out here and here). I absolutely loved the photos that Karina from Kary-Alexis Photography captured of our family and our beloved dog Charlie.

Later on we went to Downtown Fort Myers. I like this area of Fort Myers. It’s full of texture and color. I love the historic feel and charm of the brick covered streets. These are some my favorite images from our photoshoot there. Thank you Karina for capturing our love and personalities! We will treasure these beautiful images for a lifetime and beyond!
